Aion's Ban-Hammer PDF Print E-mail

NCSoft has griefed a majority of it's community. Today NCSoft unleashed the ban hammer of doom, except while swinging it, they managed to hit TONS of their legit players. Community outcry has begun on many forums and the tweet's keep pouring in. Yes, I was affected by this ban. So was Tonoue and Ken. I have opened the site even though its not done.

So NCSoft the creators of the popular game Aion Online have finally decided to put an end to all the bots and RMT (Real Money Traders) out there by doing a large ban wave. However this ban wave did not go as they have wanted.

There have been reports from major aion sites of players being banned accidentally. The site aionsource has a post that is growing quickly by the number of players accidentally banned.

However little is known if these players have actually botted / RMT, or if they are being banned for another reason. One large reasoning going around is Aion instead of actually looking into accounts that might be botting they instead looked at accounts that have been played too long (such as hard core players that play in 8+ hour intervals) . Also they might of banned players that have gained kina (The currency in aion) via the auction house selling their wares to someone that gathered kina from a RMT.

The biggest problem going on is NCSoft decided to do this late on a friday night. Keep in mind customer support hours are M-F and close at 5pm PST. This has made all the legit players banned forced to wait more than 72 hours just to get a response as to what happened to thier accounts. This is not going to go over well for a game that has just came out and needs to get a strong following to help it fight off the juggernaut World of Warcraft, to which Aion is constantly compared to in the gaming style.

Well NCSoft has not made any direct comment about this other than they will investigate all banning that may have been accidentally done on a case by case basis. But if a few thousand players where accidentally banned then this fiasco is going to quickly blow up in the faces of NCSoft.

+1 # Koreanz 2009-10-17 03:06 Update:

Players that were banned were unbanned after submitting tickets to NCSoft. This still is not acceptable due to the fact everyone who had been banned got this letter

Quote:
Your account was caught in a detection process which we use to identify third party program use, inappropriate behavior in the game, or modification of the game client. After reviewing this case, and due to the fact that you have not been identified previously by this process, we will re-open your account. This is a 'warning' and if your account is caught again in the future for these activities it will be permanently closed.

Please make certain that you are not using any third-party programs, modifying your game client, or any other 'illegal' action. Some common activities that may also show up in this detection include: buying Kinah from a third party company, using a 'Power-levelling' service, acting as a courier for RMT companies, advertising in-game for RMT companies, sharing your account, or having a hacked account.

Many of these 'other' activities can happen if your account has been 'phished' by visiting an unauthorized website and entering your login name and password. Please make sure that you are very aware to avoid 'phishing scams', and obviously never share your account information with another person for any reason. Additionally, you should make certain that the *only* place you use this particular login name and password combination is for this game. If you use the same combinations for email logins, website logins, or fansite message board logins it makes it much easier for your game account to become compromised.

We would recommend at this time that you should change your Game Account password, and it may be a wise idea to change your email address password as well. Additionally, if at any point in the past you have modified your game client in any way (GG hack, etc) we would recommend that you do a full uninstall and clean reinstall of the game client.

So not only did they ban innocent players but accused them of some violation of the EULA.

I don't think I'll be subbing to this game.

Darkwolves History

The Darkwolves got their start in Diablo 2, atleast thats when I joined up with them.

Lead by Giantkiller and Darkwalker they wreaked havoc on USEAST and USWEST servers. After a long stay they moved from game to game.

As of now most old members have moved onto real life. What's left have been playing Aion.
